Places to buy Garnier Limbs

Garnier limbs are such a useful innovation that you would think it would be easier to figure out where to buy them. But they are also pretty expensive, so many weekend warrior treehouse builders end up building with lesser quality but more affordable fasteners. In our opinion, this may put the tree or the safety of the project at risk in the short and/or long run.

We have found some places where Garnier Limbs or other high strength treehouse fasteners can be purchased, but please let us know if you find more and we'll add them here. Several of the larger treehouse building companies out there have GLs made to order for each tree house they build. Some have a stock of parts already made up, and others only make them to order.

  • Treehouse Supplies is the easiest place to buy garnier limbs on the web. The pricing is straight forward and the parts are in stock for quick delivery if you are ready to build your treehouse ASAP.
  • A less convenient but reliable way to get them is to contact one of the treehouse builders in the USA: Michael Garnier, treehouse workshop, or tree top builders.
  • Charley Greenwood's engineering shop has produced some treehouse hardware and large GLs for the treehouses they design. Charley has earned a great reputation among treehouse builders and has done more than anyone to improve treehouse attachment systems.
  • There probably are others. I heard rumors of a UK company producing a few batches of them years ago. Please let me know if you have more information about garnier limbs that can help people.

Can I make my own GLs?

There is nothing stopping you. However, Garnier Limb manufacturing is a task for a skilled machinist with expensive equipment. And with a relatively limited market for GLs, they will never turn into a mass production product. Many people can find a good machinist with the equipment to manufacture a Garnier Limb, but it's not really worth it to the machinist to make 1 or 4 or even 10! If they're going to take the time to fine tune how to make garnier limbs, then they want to charge a premium that they know you probably don't want to pay. Most varieties of garnier limbs today cost between $100 and $400 each, depending on the available sizes.

Very few people are going to make their own GLs for their treehouse. But if you try it, please let us know how they turn out and if you have any tips for others...
